It started with a fire we couldn't stop.
I watched a neighbour's house burn to the ground in under twenty minutes. We stood outside and there was nothing any of us could do but wait for it to be over.
"You never wish that moment on anyone. That helplessness is the reason OBEX exists."
That night stayed with me. A fire doesn't ask whether you're ready. It doesn't wait for you to be home, awake, or paying attention. By the time a smoke alarm finally screams, the fire has already decided how the night ends.
The hardest part wasn't the flames — it was the helplessness. Knowing that if something had been watching that kitchen, something that could act on its own in the first seconds, an entire home and everything inside it might still be standing.
So I set out to build exactly that. OBEX is an AI fire-suppression hub that lives above your stove — the most common place home fires start. It sees a grease fire the instant it ignites, verifies it's real, and extinguishes it in seconds, whether or not anyone is home to react. No panic. No waiting. No helplessness.
We're not building a smarter smoke detector. We're building the thing I wish had been in that kitchen — a guardian that never sleeps, so no family has to stand on the street and watch.
